Prof. Rajeev Gupta obtained his PhD from IIT Kanpur (India) and did his Postdoctoral work at the University of Kansas (USA). He joined the University of Delhi in 2003 and has been working as a Professor since 2009. He takes immense interest in teaching and mentoring students. Under his supervision, 16 students have obtained their PhDs whereas 7 students are presently working in his research laboratory. Prof. Gupta’s research interests are in the area of Coordination and Supramolecular Chemistry as well as Functional Materials with focus on sensing, catalysis, energy-transfer and photo-catalysis. He has published extensively and his work has been widely cited.
He is the recipient of Bronze Medal (2016) from the Chemical Research Society of India (CRSI); Science Flame Award (2015) from the World Science Congress; Membership Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS); and Indo – US Research Fellowship awarded by the Department of Science & Technology (DST) and Indo–US Science & Technology Forum (2009). Prof. Gupta has served as a member of the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) of Inorganic & Physical Chemistry of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) as well as SERB-SUPRA, SERB-STAR, SERB-POWER and SERB-VORTEX committees; Expert Committee of INSPIRE Fellowship Program of the Department of Science & Technology (DST); and Special Assistance Program (SAP) of the University Grant Commission (UGC).
Prof. Gupta has served and/or serving as a member of a few divisions of Central Pollution Control Board (Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change) and Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) in addition to Board of Studies of various universities and institutions across the country. He has assisted the University of Delhi with various responsibilities including Dean – Students’ Welfare; Chairman – Admissions; Chairman – FSR Admissions; Chairman – NCWEB; and Provost – International Students’ House.
