The University of Delhi, a prestigious central university of the country with a national and international repute, was bestowed with the Institution of Eminence distinction by the Ministry of Education on March 2, 2020. This recognition was achieved through the continuous efforts and contribution of its students, teachers, researchers, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders. This recognition is a testament to the university’s excellence in promoting teaching-learning and research.
The primary focus of the Institution of Eminence (IoE) is to establish a vibrant platform that prioritizes quality knowledge enhancement, promoting research, and bridging the gap between academia and industry. The IoE is committed to enabling and facilitating research opportunities, collaborations, and innovative research programs by creating an ecosystem of innovation, entrepreneurship, and translational research. Towards this direction, the IoE has initiated many capacity-building measures:
• To promote and strengthen research, substantial support has been extended to the University Science Instrumentation Center (North Campus) and the Central Instrumental Facility (South Campus).
• To promote inter- and multi-disciplinary research, the Faculty Research Programme and the Major Research Projects are continuously supported.
• The IoE has instituted the Research Publication Awards to encourage researchers to publish their research work in top-rated high-impact journals.
• To create a talent pool to promote quality research, the IoE has instituted College Fellows and Maharishi Kanad Post-Doctoral Fellowship schemes.
• The Delhi University Library System has been strengthened with digital initiatives, e-resources, and databases.
• The Delhi University Computer Center has been supported with campus-wide academic software, information technology & networking solutions, digital security infrastructure, and cloud-based IT services.
• The IoE schools, comprising distinguished and internationally recognized educationists, academics, researchers, and public affairs experts, promote broad and multi-disciplinary areas relevant to societal needs.
